PIETRA DI CORINTO MARMO

KENSINGTON W8

Polished Petra Di Corinto marble was chosen for both the worktop and splash-back for this minimal kitchen.
Following a visit with the client to the Italian quarry, this particular batch of marble was chosen for its dramatic veining and deep, intense colour. Its high polish reflection helps bounce light around the space and increases the impact on the adjoining living room. Matt white lacquered units were used to allow the marble to take centre stage in the space and to create a striking contrast.

The sink and recessed drainer were specially crafted from the marble worktop material to achieve a seamless look and to accentuate the natural veining. The brushed stainless steel boiling water tap from Quooker compliments the stone and gives great convenience to the client.

Pocket doors were used to conceal the oven set up, consisting of a main oven, a combination steam oven and two warming drawers. The dark antracite carcasses allow the white Miele appliances to stand out when the doors are opened.  The vertical concealed handle profile extends to the island design helping consolidate the theme.

A shark nose edge detail was used for the island worktop to create a smooth transition with the mitred doors and to contrast with the thick set sink worktop. The suspended breakfast bar seats six, and with a book matched marble downstand enhances the material flow.
